Chocolate Covered Sunflower Seed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are a classic and you can never go wrong with making them for a dessert or event! But sometimes we spice them up a bit… maybe you add peanut butter chips? Or butterscotch? How about some peanuts or raisins? Try this recipe for chocolate covered sunflower seed chocolate chip cookies! That’s a mouthful ;)

Chocolate covered sunflower seeds?! They really aren’t that hard to find ;) Check them out on Amazon. You could try another seed or just use raw sunflower seeds with mini chocolate chips if you’d like (or if that’s what you have on hand). The cookies will still be delicious!

Chocolate-Covered Sunflower Seed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  • 2-1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ cup olive oil (or 1 cup butter)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate candy-coated sunflower seeds

Instructions
  1. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 375-degrees.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars.
  3. Add the extracts and stir.
  4. Sift in the flour, salt, and baking soda and mix to combine.
  5. Beat in the eggs until the mixture is creamy.
  6. Stir in the mini chocolate chips and chocolate candy-coated sunflower seeds.
  7. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto your prepared pans.
  8. Bake 9-11 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to completely cool.
